What Are Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG)

Because of high consumer demand (e.g., soft drinks and confections) or because they are perishable, FMCGs have a short shelf life (e.g., meat, dairy products, and baked goods). These goods are frequently purchased, consumed quickly, are reasonably priced, and are sold in large quantities. They also have a high turnover when they are on the store shelf.

  • Fast-moving consumer goods are non-durable products that sell quickly and cheaply.
  • Despite having low-profit margins, FMCGs account for more than half of all consumers spending.
  • Milk, gum, fruits and vegetables, toilet paper, soda, beer, and over-the-counter drugs such as aspirin are examples of FMCGs.
